Urgent Triage - On the day urgent appointments
If you request to be seen by a GP ON THE SAME DAY, you will need to speak on the phone with a GP first who will make a decision about how quickly you need an appointment based on your clinical need. This is called Triage and runs at both of our practice sites. If you need a same day appointment, please call us between 8.45 am and 10.00 am Mon-Fri. We will then arrange for a doctor to call you back within 20 minutes of your call. If the doctor feels you need to be seen that day, they will make an appointment for you to come in later that morning.
Any emergency requests made after 10.00 am will be dealt with by the duty doctor for that day.
Please note: There will be NO change to the way you book routine appointments.
We offer 10 minute appointments with the doctors. If you would prefer to see a particular doctor, please let us know when you make the appointment.
We offer appointments from 8 am on Tuesday and Friday at our Booth Street site.
When you attend for your appointment, please check in at Reception. Tell us if any of your personal information has changed. Both surgeries are fully accessible for patients with disabilities and there are counter-loop systems in both of the reception areas. Please note if you are more than 20 minutes late for an appointment it is possible you may not be seen.
- If you have a problem which you think could be resolved over the phone, let the receptionist know
- Please give clear details to the receptionist of your problem to ensure the telephone is the most appropriate way to deal with it
- Some problems cannot be dealt with by phone and you may be asked to attend the practice
- The doctor/nurse will need to phone you back so give up to date contact details and when you will be available to recieve a call
Telephone consultations will usually take place between 11:30 am and 2 pm please ensure you are available to speak to during this period.
Evening and weekend appointments
We're part of a the Manchester Extended Access Service in Manchester - this means that, if you do want an appointment after 6 pm or at the weekend and you don't mind which doctor you see, we can book an appointment for you at a local hub such as The Arch Medical Practice (on Royce Road). Simply telephone reception and ask for a late evening or weekend appointment.
At times your GP or Nurse may need to examine you to make a diagnosis and you may wish to have another person present to put you at ease. This third person is called a chaperone. All of our staff are fully trained as chaperones and can be present during your examination. All staff adhere to a strict confidentiality policy. If you would like another person present at your examination, please let the doctor or nurse know and they will be happy to arrange this for you.
If English is not your first language an interpreter can be used for appointments. As this needs to be organised in advance please let reception staff know when booking, indicating your preferred language.
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else. Every year hundreds of appointments are wasted please don't add to this.
Home visits are at the discretion of the GP and will only be made when it is impossible for a patient to get to the surgery.
If a home visit is required then please telephone the surgery before 11.00 am.
