When can I usually* get a routine appointment with my doctor?
These days, new patients are registered with a practice rather than with a named GP. This means you can choose who you want to see when you book a routine appointment. But when does your doctor have routine surgeries? To help you, we've pulled together a timetable. Please note though that, with the exception of the GP Registrar, all of our doctors do telephone triage at least one morning during the week so if they're not on the timetable for a particular day, it doesn't mean that they're not working! Please also note that this timetable is subject to change if a doctor is off sick or on holiday!
Doctors' timetable from August 2016
Consultations by Appointment
We offer 10 minute appointments with the doctors. If you would prefer to see a particular doctor, please let us know when you make the appointment.
We aim to provide pre-bookable appointments within 2 working days but this may not always be with the doctor of your choice.
For same day appointments, we run a telephone triage service from Monday to Friday at both of our practice sites. If you need a same day appointment, please call us between 8.45 and 10.00am. We will then arrange for a doctor to call you back within 20 minutes of your call. If the doctor feels you need to be seen that day, they will make an appointment for you to come in later that morning.
Any emergency requests made after 10.00am will be dealt with by the duty doctor for that day.
We offer appointments from 8am on Tuesday and Friday at our Booth Street site.
If you have booked an appointment but later find you do not need it or are unable to attend please telephone the surgery and cancel so that another patient can be offered that appointment.
When you attend for your appointment, please check in at Reception. Tell us if any of your personal information has changed. Both surgeries are fully accessible for patients with disabilities and there are counter-loop systems in both of the reception areas.
Evening and weekend appointments
Although we're not currently able to offer late evening and weekend appointments ourselves, we're part of an 'extended access' scheme in Manchester - this means that, if you do want an appointment after 6pm or at the weekend and you don't mind which doctor you see, we can book an appointment for you at The Arch Medical Practice (on Royce Road). Please ask us for more information if you're interested in this.
